Government At Work: Groping Children Is Preferable to Perceived Profiling

November 15, 2010

Originally posted at David Horowitz’s NewsReal:

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently implemented new supposed security measures, which include a mandated trip through a full body scanner that shows you in all your naked glory, or lack thereof. It’s all cool, though, because if you don’t wish to have your naked body ogled, you can always get felt up instead via the new “enhanced pat-down” option. It’s all about choice, baby! Whichever you prefer: leering or groping.

Surely, you’d think, this wouldn’t be done randomly, but would rather be a targeted measure. And, you’d also think, certainly the absolutely random subjection of children to such “pat-downs” wouldn’t occur. Well, you’d be wrong on both counts. Of course this isn’t targeted – that would be too profile-y and stuff! Because, tolerance. Or something. You see, because we must tolerate those who wish to kill us, we cannot offend them. We cannot be perceived to be singling out a certain group. We must, therefore, waste time and resources using terrorism countermeasures against, you know, NON-terrorists. And we are to pretend that 90-year-old grandmas from Nebraska flew planes into buildings on September 11th. Or that three-year-old girls strapped bombs to their shoes or in their underwear.

The TSA should change its name to Totalitarian Sexual Abuse. This child was terrified, tormented and assaulted. And we are supposed to find this acceptable, because it is allegedly For Our Own Good ™?  “Kids, do not ever let a stranger touch you. If they try,  scream, run away and tell someone immediately. Wait, whoops! Unless it’s government molestation. Then, shaddup.”

Hey, you know what would actually be for our own good? I’m no Janet Napolitano (thank goodness), but it seems to me that we should try out that whole using targeted security measures, based on actual suspicion and clues, like they do in Israel. Oh, silly me. That would mean acknowledging that it is a specific radicalized group of people who wants to kill us and not tea partiers. And it might even entail mentioning the word Islam. Oh, the horror.

As it stands now, we do nearly the opposite. We go out of our way to ass kissily show that we are not “profiling.” Which is why I now think that I’m giong to have to start putting my 7-year-old daughter in a burqa when flying.  It is clearly the only way that I can ensure that she won’t be groped by TSA.

The above video shows something else highly disturbing. Is the public so cowed by “government knows best” strong arm tactics that they are now willing to let some low-level,  government-employed flunky assault their children, as they merely stand by and film it? People say that you can’t know how you’d react until you are in a similar situation. That is often true. But it is not true when it comes to protecting one’s children. No threat to me, especially a stupid monetary threat of a fine, outweighs protecting my child from harm. I would not have allowed that to happen and I certainly would not have stood by passively and filmed my terrified child with my little cell phone.  The only way I’d have used a camera, were that my child, would have been to teach the TSA employee a little something about what happens when a camera goes where the sun don’t shine. I’m small, but I’m scrappy.

Where the sun don’t shine, by the way, is where any terrorists would attempt to smuggle stuff. So, these pat-downs aren’t just egregious, they are worthless. They want to kill us, stupid. Assaulting our personal liberty and taking naked scan pictures of moms from South Carolina or feeling up some dude from Tennessee’s junk won’t stop that. Nor will tormenting our own children. Political correctness moved from annoying to potentially deadly. It is now also abusive.

It’s bad enough the Government constantly condescends to the American public and treats us all like half-witted children. I think the past election showed them that we will no longer stand for that. Let this be another Teachable Moment for them: do not dare try to use – and worse, harm – our children to perpetuate your own demented quests for absolute power and pathetic “multiculturalism,” politically correct acceptance.

It is amazing how Israel seems to always get it right and the U.S. always seems to get it wrong. Federal employees could screw up a “soup sandwich” even without laws and regs. written by fools and idiots. This country is “going to Hell in a hand-basket” behind “political correctness”. GOD save us from the good intentions of Liberals and cowards.

It never occurs to the gubmint to do something this drastic
at the borders; north and south? Meanwhile, the whole world is
skipping through Mexico into our territory.

You do realize that Israel will do body cavity searches if they feel the need? I’ve a Caucasian, blonde, blue-eyed friend who was requested to drop ’em-n-squat solely because Israeli security didn’t like the pattern of her visas. That she was a UN interpreter, and thus the strange visas, didn’t get her a waiver. Do we really want TSA doing that? Or is it just okay if it’s done to the other guy?

BTW, what sort of profile would have caught John Lindh or David Hicks? Not a swarthy gene between them.

I do emphaticize with the UN interpreter but, I would add that her travel history is suspicous as compared to grannies going to see her grandkids accross the country once a year. How about the 17 times a chest x-ray exposure that individuals receive everytime someone goes through the scanner process.

I thought we were afraid of such excessive exposures to harmful radiation???? I digress…..

I would add that 3 year old who is traumatized for life from the excessively intrusive body pat down by a TSA worker will probably need counseling and may never be able to fly again as a result.

Profiling is used everyday in law enforcement and is a viable means of weeding out those who are not potential threats from those who are. If you prefer being groped by government authorities, why not try to enter the white house grounds or secure areas of an air port without permission to get your thrills having your private areas inspected by some sweaty, and power mad TSA employee.

For me, I am not planning on flying until they stop this stupid waste of manpower and resources in these scanners and pat downs and they start focusing on the real threats in society.

Everyone should remember that the testing of body scanners at airports and the implementation of widespread use began during the Bush administration.

The “assaulting of our personal liberty,” as Lori puts it, began in 2005.

So, in addition to holding people indefinitely without charges, wiretapping Americans without a warrant, and torturing confessions out of innocent people, this is just another thing that conservatives can choose to conveniently forget about the Bush administration.

And don’t forget that it was a Texas republican who brought to our attention the horrible, imminent threat of “terrorist babies”…After that classic bit of fearmongering, who could blame the TSA for patting down children as a potential second generation terrorist?

    • November 19, 2010 3:56 pm

I remember that much of this b.s. started with Bush (he was not a conservative). My indignation is NOT selective. I am fed up with the federales at all levels no matter what political party as well as the average American who cannot wait to line up for his handouts from “nanny”.

While we can all trace origins of government abuse to practically any president and the era that they served in, be they republican or democrat (remeber the internment camps of WWII with FDR) I would point out that grousing about a past act and origin versus what is going on today is missing the point of the article that Lori posted in my opinion.

Frankly we live in a country where the government, aided by both parties ( but the democrats mostly), has grown far beyond the original scope that was envisioned by the founders. So large in fact that the bureaucracy is not responsive to the citizens it is supposed to serve. Lori points out correctly that it is innocents who are NOW BEING GROPED. Whether this was initiated by Bush is immaterial. I strongly suggest you abandon your BUSH BASHING and see someone about your BDS.

I respect to the horrible events of 9-11, not one of the terrorists who boarded and hijacked the flights were named Bob, Joe, Bill, or any other anglican name. Further proof of the value of profiling is that had anyone checked these men’s passports or visas it would have been discovered that they had been in and out of country to the Middle East and back on several occasions in the preceeding couple of years. If this was done today and the same information came to light I would see red flags and I am sure they are justified and this type of critical review could be used instead of dangerous x-rays and the kind of body groping that would be a crime outside of an airport.

We are afraid to insult a few by giving male Muslims aged 18-40 a second or third glance in a screening process based on sound reasoning and historical precedent. As a society we have become too politically correct and that blinds us to the reality that is the world around us.
We were attacked by radical muslim terrorists. If the attackers were Inuit Eslimos we would profile them in order to provide a safe travel environment. It stands to good reason that profiling Muslims would save much in terms of unneeded x-ray exposure, unfriendly and intrusive groping by TSA employees and also resources dedicaetd to these current activities could be devoted to far more productive activities.

It amazes me as to why instead of discussing the issue of the intrusion into our private space that these procedures cause, you instead are determined to blame Bush and deflect any criticism aimed towards the current administration and their policies. I truly feel sorry for you. You will lament that you lost your freedom after you spent your time looking backwards instead of what is happeneing right in front of your face.

After reading some comments at an American Thinker article, it hit me: classic Cloward-Piven strategy!

Keep people focused on TSA scanning nonsense instead of profiling (which should be done).

MEANWHILES, TheWon’s flunky-lame-duck session is trying to cram through:
    – Plans to stifle & control of the internet
    – the DREAM ACT – to legalize illegal aliens

I think it’s funny how you give me crap about “looking backwards” and then talk about what you believe that “the founders” envisioned. You can’t look backwards much farther than the founders.

You seem to think that Moooslum terrorism is the only terrorism that this country has ever experienced. Maybe you yourself need to look backwards to see that white guys have caused plenty of intentional damage and terror over the years.

A common definition of terrorism is the systematic use or threatened use of violence to intimidate a population or government and thereby effect political, religious, or ideological change.

Here’s a sample of white guys gone wild, just for you, Glenn Becky.

    – Daniel Patrick Boyd, a 39-year-old North Carolinian white guy was arrested with his sons and other men he was apparently training in militant techniques, so that they could wage violent jihad in America. Authorities were interested in Boyd’s growing stockpile of armor-piercing assault weapons and his rural training expeditions on the Virginia border with young Muslim men, as well as the networks he used to finance and plan trips overseas. Boyd converted to Islam in the 1980s, then he went to Afghanistan to fight the Soviets with the Taliban. And then he just moved back to Raleigh and married his high school sweetheart.

    – Joe Stack, a white guy, flew his small plane in a suicide attack on an IRS building in Austin, Texas, killing one.

    – James G. Cummings, a white guy and a white-supremacist whose father was a California real estate baron, was using his daddy’s money to try and build a “dirty bomb” using radioactive materials because he was ticked off that a black man won the 2008 election. The only reason we know about this is because he was killed by his wife Amber, who got fed up with his beating her up all the time and shot him before he could finish his bomb.

    – William Krar, a white guy from Noonday, Texas, who with his common-law-wife was making pipe bombs, suitcase bombs, cyanide bombs and other weapons of mass destruction and providing them to right-wing militia groups across the US. (He was caught when one of his shipments, to a New Jersey militia group, was misdelivered to a New York family who promptly turned the package and its contents over to law enforcement officials.)

    – Shawna Forde and Jason Bush, white folks and white supremacists who broke into a Hispanic man’s home and brutally killed him and his nine year old daughter, for no other reason than sheer racial hatred.

    – Dennis and Daniel Mahon, white guys, and Illinois neo-Nazis who committed a 2004 mailbombing in Scottsdale, Arizona that seriously injured several people.

    – Eric Rudolph, the white guy who masterminded and pulled off the Centennial Olympic Park bombing in Atlanta, Georgia, during the Atlanta Olympics. One person was killed and 111 injured. In a statement released in 2005 Rudolph said the motive was to protest abortion and the “global socialist” Movement. He also bombed a gay nightclub and an abortion clinic.

    – Tim McVeigh and Terry Nichols, two white guys, were responsible for the bomb that destroyed the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, and killed 168 people, 19 of them children in the building’s day-care facility.

    – George Metesky, the “Mad Bomber”, and a white guy, placed over 30 bombs in New York City in public places such as Grand Central Station and The Paramount Theatre injuring ten in protest of the high rates of a local electric utility.

    – William Krar, a white guy, is charged for his part in the Tyler poison gas plot, a white supremacist related plan. A sodium cyanide bomb was seized with at least 100 other bombs, bomb components, machine guns, and 500,000 rounds of ammunition.

    – Ted Kaczynski, The “Unabomber,” and a white guy, killed three people and wounded 22 with his mailbombs, but it could have been much worse. He managed to sneak a bomb onto American Airlines Flight 444 from Chicago to Washington D.C. It exploded but only caused a small fire. Otherwise, a Boeing 747 passenger jet might have fallen out of the sky on Nov. 15, 1979.

    – James W. von Brunn, a white guy, served 6 years in prison for attempting to kidnap members of the Federal Reserve at their headquarters in Washington, D.C. He testified his motive was to raise awareness of alleged “treacherous and unconstitutional” acts by the Federal Reserve.

    – Sam Melville, a white guy, bombed the Marine Midland Building in New York City injuring 20 people.

    – 2001 anthrax attacks. Letters tainted with anthrax killed five across the United States, with politicians and media officials as the apparent targets. On July 31, 2008 Bruce E. Ivins, a white guy, and a top biodefense researcher committed suicide. On August 6, 2008 the FBI concluded that Ivins was solely responsible for the attacks and suggested that Ivins wanted to bolster support for a vaccine he helped create and that he targeted two lawmakers because they were Catholics who held pro choice views.

    – Jim D. Adkisson, a white guy, opened fire in the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville,Tennessee killing two and injuring seven before being tackled to the ground by congregation members. A note found in his SUV indicated this was intended as a suicide attack and said the church was targeted because of its support of liberal social policies.

    – Assassination of George Tiller. Dr. George Tiller, a doctor who provided late term abortions was shot to death in a Wichita, Kansas church. Tiller was shot previously in 1993 and his abortion clinic had been bombed in 1985. Alleged assassin Scott Roeder, a white guy who believes in justifiable homicide of abortion providers, has been arrested for the killing.

That’s just partial list of white guys who have terrorized America, Becky. Here’s a few recent white guy militias and nutjobs that got caught before they could realize their terrorist plots..

1995 November 9: Oklahoma Constitutional Militia members arrested while in the planning stages for bombings of Southern Poverty Law Center, gay bars and abortion clinics.

1996 January 1: Members of the Viper Team militia are arrested after they caught surveying government buildings in Arizona.

1996 November 11: Seven members of the Mountaineer Militia are arrested in plot to blow up the FBI fingerprint records center in West Virginia.

1997 July 4: Members of the splinter militia group the Third Continental Congress are arrested while planning attacks on military bases which they believed were being used to train United Nations troops to attack U.S. citizens.
1998 March 18: Members of the North American Militia are arrested in plot to bomb Federal Buildings in Michigan, a television station and an interstate highway intersection.

1999 December 5: Members of the San Joaquin Militia are arrested on charges of plotting to bomb critical infrastructure locations in hopes of sparking an insurrection. The leaders of the group plead guilty to charges of plotting to kill a Federal judge.

1999 December 8: The leader of the Southeastern States Alliance militia group is arrested in plot to bomb energy faculties with the goal of causing power outages in Florida and Georgia.

2000 March 9: The former leader of the Texas Militia is arrested in a plot to attack the Federal Building in Houston.

2002 February 8: Two members of Project 7 are arrested plotting to kill judges and law enforcement officials in order to kick off a revolution.

2006 November 29: Demetrius Van Crocker, a white guy, and a white supremacist from rural Tennessee was sentenced to 30 years in prison for attempting to acquire Sarin nerve gas and C-4 explosives that he planned to use to destroy government buildings.

2007 May 1: Five members of a self styled Birmingham, Alabama area anti-immigration militia were arrested for planning a machine gun attack on Mexicans.

2008 March 26: Michael S. Gorbey, a white guy who was detained in January 2008 for carrying a loaded shotgun two blocks from the Capitol Building, was charged with planning to set off a bomb after a device containing can of gunpowder duct-taped to a box of shotgun shells and a bottle containing buckshot or BB pellets was found in the pickup truck he was driving. The pickup truck was moved to a government parking lot where for a three week period the device inside it went unnoticed.Michael Gorbey (white guy) gets 22 years in prison.

2008 October 27: Federal agents claim to have thwarted a plot by two white power skinheads (yep, white guys) to target an African American High School and kill 88 blacks and decapitate 14 more (the numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic to white supremacists) and although expecting to fail, try to assassinate Barack Obama.

2009 September 24: Michael Finton, a 29 year old white guy from Illinois, and a Muslim convert, is charged with trying to kill federal employees by detonating a car bomb at the federal building in Springfield, Illinois. He is said to idolize American-born Taliban soldier John Walker Lindh.

So you see, Becky, it’s actually you who may lament the fact that you whined about a little inconvenience at the airport as a loss of your freedom, and begged the feds to profile only Arab looking dudes, only to find out that the next big attack was perpetrated by a bunch of good ol’ crazy American white guys.

Besides, Molten/Nameless….I’ll safely wager (without even bothering to read it) that not a single one of those criminals on your tiresome cut-and-paste list hijacked a passenger plane or jumbo jet in the USA.

Of course you didn’t. Books are “long” too, huh?

That explains a lot. Like why you never have anything of substance to say. It’s very telling that you feel that the white guys on my list are “criminals,” but if they had been Arabs you would have not hesitated to label them as “terrorists.”

The post is relevant because it addresses the profiling issue. If you think for a second that there aren’t radicalized white or black Muslims in America, you’re being willfully ignorant.

If Snark & Boobs submitted a post that claimed that the Earth was round, the sun rose in the east, and fish swim in water…you’d call her a liar, insult her & anybody who agrees with her, then search the internet for anything that you can ‘cut-&-paste’ in order to deceive us into thinking that you are somehow knowledgeable or well-informed.

In addition, any narcissitic troll (like yourself) who claims that the shooting of George Tiller = the horrible events of 9/11 deserves no respect whatsoever.
          And a severe beating.
(Yeah, I went there…suck it, troll!)

So go ahead & throw your pathetic, childish tantrums, Molten/Nameless.

    Lisa G,

If you can’t be bothered to read my posts, how is it that you can be bothered to reply to them?

If you’re a history buff, and interested in the Middle East, the book you need to read is “Power, Faith, and Fantasy: America in the Middle East, 1776 to the Present” by Michael B. Oren. It’s long, so you might become annoyed with it, but it’s by far the best book on the subject that I’ve read.

I’ve heard your story about how “socialism failed the Pilgrims. It’s very interesting considering that the concept of socialism wasn’t popularized until the late 1700s. Real historians tend to disagree with your version, and would never refer to what the Pilgrims did as socialism. But you prefer the Rush Limbaugh version of the story, so you should continue to believe that one.

    • November 26, 2010 7:40 pm

What the early Pilgrims practiced was socialism no matter what call it. By any other name it smells the same and it never works.

  11. November 26, 2010 5:53 am

go learn something (p.s. Rush is usually right)… start with what Governor BRADFORD wrote about the 1620-1623 time frame… HE WOULD KNOW, HE WAS THERE

the pilgrims communal setup is what we dumb ‘ol people who like history and truth call “SOCIALISM” or collectivism or statism… pick your ism… these ideologies all have FAILED and will continue to fail:

“The Pilgrims at Plymouth Colony organized their farm economy along communal lines. The goal was to share the work and produce equally.

That’s why they nearly all starved.

When people can get the same return with less effort, most people make less effort. Plymouth settlers faked illness rather than working the common property. Some even stole, despite their Puritan convictions. Total production was too meager to support the population, and famine resulted. This went on for two years.

“So as it well appeared that famine must still ensue the next year also, if not some way prevented,” wrote Gov. William Bradford in his diary. The colonists, he said, “began to think how they might raise as much corn as they could, and obtain a better crop than they had done, that they might not still thus languish in misery. At length after much debate of things, (I) (with the advice of the chiefest among them) gave way that they should set corn every man for his own particular, and in that regard trust to themselves. And so assigned to every family a parcel of land.”

In other words, the people of Plymouth moved from socialism to private farming. The results were dramatic.

“This had very good success,” Bradford wrote, “for it made all hands very industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been. By this time harvest was come, and instead of famine, now God gave them plenty, and the face of things was changed, to the rejoicing of the hearts of many.”

Because of the change, the first Thanksgiving could be held in November 1623.

oh yeah, more from Bradford himself:

“The 1623 Division of Land marked the end of the Pilgrims’ earliest system of land held in common by all. Governor Bradford explains it in this way:
“And so assigned to every family a parcel of land, according to the proportion of their number, for that end, only for present use (but made no division for inheritance) and ranged all boys and youth under some family. This had very good success, for it made all hands very industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been by any means the Governor or any other could use, and saved him a great deal of trouble, and gave far better content. The women now went willingly into the field, and took their little ones with them to set corn; which before would allege weakness and inability; whom to have compelled would have been thought great tyranny and oppression.”
William Bradford, Of Plymouth Plantation 1620-1647, ed.
Samuel Eliot Morison (New York : Knopf, 1991), p. 120.”

hope this helps you finally learn something (I know… it probably hurts… oh well)

Like I said, you should believe what you want. I’m not interested in debating you on this issue. The fact that there were many reasons that the Pilgrims “nearly all starved” would be lost on you, so there really is no reason for me to waste my time trying to educate you on the topic. You’re mind is made up. Enjoy your story.
