TURN ON THE DAMN WATER, DEMOCRATS
Yes, I’m yelling. Shrilly Shrieking actually, like the devious Right Winger that I am. Why? Because I’ve barely heard a whisper about this story outside of the blogosphere, besides Hannity and I give him props for that.
Did y’all know that our Government is withholding water from FARMERS. No, seriously. For realsies. Worse, the reason: to save some smelt as per a ruling from Judge Oliver Wanger, who I can only assume is trying out for a Justice position in that bastion of Utopian Jackassery, The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. That’s right, he believes SMELT are more important than the livelihood of the farmers and all whom they employ. They are also more important than the American people as a whole who will pay for the decrease in supply with higher prices at the grocery store. I know that is hard for Democrats to understand, as they apparently don’t get the concept of things like supply and demand. That’s pesky Economics stuff. They prefer to posture and say things like “oh, um, that was inherited from Bush.” I hate to inform y’all, but you CAMPAIGNED for the jobs. Thus, nothing was “inherited”. Man up and deal.
On the 22nd of September, the Democrats killed Senator DeMint’s Amendment that would have turned the water back on for California farmers (and the hundreds of thousands of jobs they supply) by a vote of 61 to 36. The Democrats were joined by three of the usual Republican suspects, Snowe, Collins and Alexander.
IN A RECESSION. What, not enough people on food stamps yet? I’m shocked that the Obamas haven’t voiced their concern. I mean, have you SEEN the price of Arugula at Whole Foods as it is!? And what about Michelle Obama’s Tuscan Kale and $5.00 per dozen eggs? She may have to cut back on her $500 a pair sneakers!
Dianne Feinstein went one nuttier than the rest; she compared turning back ON the water to — Pearl Harbor. No, really:
Obama and the Democrats: Creating or Saving 145,000 to 850,000 acres of fallow, un-farmable land. And Creating or Saving the need for more and more food stamps.
You know, one of the greatest threats for which Homeland Security tries to plan is major drought. They also have plans in place to immediately deflect any and all threats to our water systems for our food supplies. Who knew they’d have to plan for man-made droughts.
And defend us from those threats at the hands of our own Government.

This must be one of those “man-caused disasters” Obama was talking about. Maybe we need a “contingency operation” to deal with it.
Wait until it heats up here in GA. The feds have said Atlanta had no rights to the Lake Lanier water even though the recharge zone is mostly if not entirely in GA.
Yes, ma’am, that is correct. There is some mussell in Forida that needs the water more than 5 million Georgia citizens. Oh yeah, and Alabama thinks the water is theirs too. I’m sure the fact that the governor is a Republican doesn’t come into the equation.
Ironically, the entire metro area went for Obama last November. I suppose ACORN and APOLLO will make things good with the thirsty lefties with the brown lawns just before the 2010 elections.
I hereby dub him Judge Oliver Wanker.
Feinstein is completely full of shit. She doesn’t care, because, if she did, the water would have been flowing this summer. I drive down Interstate 5 fairly regularly and have been seeing the dust bowl signs for months. They cut off water to the northern valley and are hurting a lot of farmers as well as those poor families that depend on seasonal labor. The water is getting cut off, because the stupid smelt spawn near the pumps that send the water south. However, they ignore evidence that there is a second spawning ground that is not impacted by the pumps.
Environmentalists in San Francisco are willing to sacrifice the central valley just to protect their water on the off chance that it could possibly become threatened. Allow me to say, fuck San Francisco. I’d rather the good folks in the central valley get the water than liberal hippie fuckheads who have ruined this state. I mean look at California. It’s all thanks to near universal leftist control of this state. The closest thing we have to a Republican is Arnold and he’s a blue dog at best.
The real impact of this Democratic Party created dust bowl will be felt for years. The orchards that depend on water can’t just bounce back the next year. It takes many years for trees to develop and start producing. We are going to lose a lot of orchards & it will cripple areas of the central valley for years to come. However, politicians like Feinstein don’t care, because her support comes from LA and San Francisco rather than the central valley, which is more conservative. If this was hurting the people Feinstein cared about, this would have never happened. I hope like hell that Boxer is tossed out along with a lot of other California politicians that have destroyed this state at the behest of leftist interests. Feinstein isn’t up for re-election, so I’ll have to hope she ends up stranded in the desert without water.
I was hoping you’d weigh in, since you know the area. Thank you! Excellent points and well-said, as always.
What kind of warped, alternative reality black hole have we been sucked into? We the people need to get our boots on these clowns throats and never, NEVER, forget what they are capable of.
This is not just a California water issue; this is about environmentalism gone insane, and the whole country is being held hostage to a two inch Smelt.
Fresh water is being dumped into the ocean while farms are lying fallow due to lack of water, and Californians are rationing water because of a severe drought.
I’m not an opponent of environmentalism, per se, but I am an opponent of stupidity, and this is Smelt business is a perfect example of how zealots can sabotage otherwise good intentions.
And for the zealots: I’ve been rationing water, which, in-turn, affects my personal environment, and the environment that many other creatures also depend upon. And multiply my efforts by many, many of millions of people, and our environment is severely impacted, and our wonderful Federal government does not care.
This is an excellent article.
Bingo.
And our GOVERNMENT is allowing us to be held hostage by zealots to everyone’s great detriment. Insanity.
Don’t be messing with Northern CA’s water
most of the unemployed are illegals
the flow to SF Bay must be maintained, to keep the saltwater from encroaching further, lest the saltwater destroy 100’s of 1,000’s of acres of invaluable farmland
we are all suffering; haven’t watered my lawn in years
all things known point to Southern CA wanting our water, and they will do ANYTHING TO GET IT, including start and financially support the protest in San Joaquin
I’m pretty sure there are at least a few farmers with the knowledge and means to turn on the water. Let’s hope they do so soon. I grew up in that area and can’t imagine what a mess it is now with so many high school kids with no place to work during the summer break. It also seems the outrage has gone quiet, perhaps a sign that people are reaching their limit with this administration?

It’s not about right or left, liberal or conservative, or even “Tree Huggers”. IT’S ABOUT MONEY!!!
If you were to fly over the southern San Joaquin Valley, you would see a large canal full of water headed south.
The pumps that need to be turned OFF are the ones that pump water down to southern California.
The cost of building desalination plants on their precious (and expensive) coast to support the water needs of
their overpopulation is costly to say the least. So why not take the easy way out and take water from the north!
I recently watched Sean Hannity do a special on this subject. Needless to say I WAS a fan of his until I watched him
try his best to humiliate a spokesman from the fisherman’s association. That’s when I realized Hannity is
nothing more than another talking head playing to the crowd.
The problem isn’t with a fish or the fishermen….It’s the power of money and the need for water in
overpopulated southern Cal.
What really pisses me off is being pissed off at Hannity, I always thought of him as Nathan Lane’s
straight twin brother…..
I was also upset at Hannity’s treatment of the spokesman from the fisherman’s association — not knowing all the details of the problem, I have no idea whether the gentleman had any valid points, but I was really bothered by Sean’s treatment of him. At the very least he should have been allowed to make his points without constantly being interrupted, and his claim that the water was all being sold to Southern CA should at least be investigated.
That’s one of the first times (I don’t watch him every night) I’ve seen SH be THAT rude to someone (that didn’t seem to deserve it!)
You people are really stupid -m why don’t you read the judge’s opinions before you comment.
