Obama recognizes Ahmadinejad; Gives Iranians The Bird

August 4, 2009

The White House called Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the “elected leader” of Iran on Tuesday when asked whether President Barack Obama recognized the Iranian president after the country’s disputed election.

“This was a decision and a debate ongoing in Iran by Iranians, they were going to choose their leadership,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said. “He’s the elected leader.”

For all intents and purposes, President Obama just said to Iranians:  “Too Bad, So Sad, Suck. It. Up.  Might I suggest a Summit? They’re totally awesome.”

Though, should be really be surprised that the Administration has no qualms about propagating a lie and saying that Ahmadinejad was Elected?  Obama is basically just telling the Iranian protestors, both living and dead, the same thing he tells us: “Because Shut Up”

I feel so totally old skool, believing in pesky stuff like democracy and capitalism and free, legitimate elections.  This is Hope and Change, baby! Progress!

As Frank Fleming (IMAO) said on The Twit, “Remember when we had a president who was for democracy? That was cool.”

Evidently, believing in Democracy and free, valid elections is NOT something Obama “inherited” from Bush.

Um, what did you expect the white house to say? (Answer that and then maybe I’ll know where to take this discussion). I, for one, am a bit relieved that Obama is slightly closer to being a non-interventionist than Bush. Wasn’t there a time when conservatives didn’t think that America should be the world’s police? It’s not like we have any diplomatic relations with Iran anyway.

I expected him not to give a big “Because Shut Up” to those fighting for Democracy, living AND Dead. To call him the “Elected” leader is an absolute lie and for all intents and purposes condones the actions of the Mullahs in Iran.

I’m really having a tough time wrapping my head around this. The US has always legitimized certain totalitarian regimes. Historically, this was done because these regimes could advance the US’ interests and/or stymie our enemies’ agendas.

It appears this administration is breaking from this tradition by supporting our enemies while turning our backs on our friends.

Israel must be thinking “With friends like the US…”

Exactly. Why legitimize and condone an abject lie? Using the word “Elected”, in particularly… it’s utter BS.

      He was elected, my ass!

Hi Snarkandboobs- Nice blog you have here. I wanted to join in on your #ration fun last night on twitter, but I don’t think you saw the reply I tried there. I’m new to the twitter game, as such, I don’t know how often people check to find out if they have replies with their name in them or not – but regardless.. You also don’t have a way for people to contact you on your blog, so I decided I’d just ask you publicly.

I am in the process of re-creating some old WWII posters into obama care type posters, and came across one that I’d like to get your input on. I stumbled over it today while digging for some new ones to work with, and I think it’s perfect to go with the ‘rationing’ theme.

get ahold of me: nleavens at gmail , or @nickleavens on twitter. Thanks a ton! (and sorry for having to post this here)
